Maricar’s research is about large-scale natural hazards risk analysis modelling to better characterise the spatial and temporal dynamics of urban environments amidst rapidly changing local exposure and vulnerability. She uses techniques  from structural engineering, predictive modelling, probabilistic hazard analysis and other statistical methods to investigate impactful and novel research to promote resilience in cities.

Topics of interest:

  • Risk analysis at the regional and urban scale.
  • Time-dependent risk modeling
  • Novel methods of fragility modeling

“Modelling disaster risk trajectories of urban environments.” Funded by National Research Foundation (NRF–NRFF2018–06) along with an Earth Observatory of Singapore Scholarship
